I used to live on a bluff in Del Mar about 100 yards from the ocean with an entirely west facing yard, with plenty of windows to take advantage of the view. Trust me, it can get VERY hot in the afternoons – both inside and out.
And fwiw, I think your “friendly jabbering” kind of makes you look like a jerk.
