Ottamojo, while what you posted about is awful,I don’t think it relates to the current administration’s justification for the war. You can correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t the current administration promoting the war on only on the idea that it is the best place to fight “terrorism”? There was a lot of culture based propaganda to gain sympathy for the wars early on. I think you have to take that with a grain of salt.
I apologize if I was offensive to you in my somewhat off-tract rant. Just wanted to address any possible U.S. as “holier than thou” misconceptions and some things that really bother me in our own culture.
We here in the U.S are far from perfect I realize that;but how they reconcile their religion with man-boy hookups is beyond my ability to comprehend. I am tempted to insert a Catholic priest joke here but am afraid of the path it may lead to : )
I understand and agree that what you described is offensive. I disagree with with linking that behavior to Islam and to the validity of the mission for which our soldiers sacrifice. It is too close to anti-Islam propaganda.Yeah, people involved are messed up.
Afghans live in a surreal/ science fiction world for reason not related to their religion, thanks to larger super powers. Can you imagine walking around wondering if a projectile was incoming from some unmanned aircraft tens of thousands of feet out of view? How many cylinders would your culture be firing on with this kind of continuous stress prevalent since the invasion of the Soviets?
Can we agree that we are simply talking about symptoms in a society ripe for an epidemic of some sort?
Yeah the Afghans have been screwed royally by outsiders but I don’t think the Soviets or anybody else encouraged them to seek man-boy relationships as far as I know. As for the validity of our mission there… this pedophile thing is just one more reason on my list of why we shouldn’t be over there.
