A proposition for partypup or arraya.
Given that the ATMs are still working (thank god) I have a proposition for partypup or arraya or anyone else that thinks that Road Warrior time is imminent.
Well, maybe not “imminent”. But this is probably what Mad Max’s neighborhood looked like before turning into Thunderdome. Now ask yourself what this country will look like in a few years if scenes like this begin to play out in major urban areas:
“About half of the homes on her block are burned out or vacant magnets for drug dealers and squatters. It isn’t where she thought she’d end up, but it’s all she can afford to rent.
“It’s a dangerous place to live,” said Bates, 21, who lives on East Russell Avenue. “Everywhere you look, these houses are empty around here.”
Property abandonment is getting so bad in Flint that some in government are talking about an extreme measure that was once unthinkable — shutting down portions of the city, officially abandoning them and cutting off police and fire service.”
Guess Aunt Entity will be plowing through the urban war zone in a foreign-made sport-tank, as GM, Chrysler and Ford will have gone bankrupt.
On December 1, 2009 I will sell 5 delicious lifegiving gallons of water to anyone for $100 in useless U.S. currency.
Further, for the big players, I will trade 1 oz. in gold bullion .999 pure, for $5000 in worthless paper U.S. currency.
Anyone want to take me up on it?
Sorry, not interested. I’ve got 50 lifegiving gallons of my own, and I cannot imagine buying gold for more than $1,500/oz in December 2009. By the way, what special meaning does the date December 1, 2009 hold for you? I’m sure nothing in my original post could give you the impression that this country would run out of water or that gold would hit $5,000 in the next 9 months…? I believe we will experience food shortages before water shortages, and $5000 is probably 3 years away.
