I think it’s a moral society that provides for the medical care of the poor and elderly. Most medical expenses are incurred in the last year or two of life. I’m not for my taxes going to young people who are working and just don’t feel like buying health insurance because they’d rather spend the money on a vacation or newer car. If you want to eliminate Medicare, Medi-Cal and Social Security, fine. Just hold the children of the elderly responsible for the bills when they come due.
