I still believe if you are willing to roll up your sleeves, invest in a credit monitoring service (Costco offers an excellent service that provides scores and reports from the 3 bureaus), and start writing letters, it’s worth it.
Digging around in my credit reports was interesting. There were so MANY inaccuracies. Some of my ex-husbands active credit accounts were still on my report (we were divorced NINE years ago), so I had them taken off.
However, if you have the money, a reputable service might be the way to go if you’re too busy to deal with it yourself.
