I ditched my landline a few years ago. I kept it mostly for safety reasons–I never made any calls on it. Local toll calls, long distance calls…why even bother when I can call virtually as much as I ever would want to talk on my cell phone at no additional cost.
The thing that finally convinced me (other than the close to $30 monthly bill) was the non stop telemarketing calls and the flood of messages on my answering machine from Ahnold or some other concerned party hoping to persuade my vote.
I tried multiple times to add my number to the DNC list. Never seemed to make a difference.
