I am currently shopping for a relatively high end house, and when I find what I want will sell my current one. The combined value of the two houses will be in the range of $5M. That is $150,000 for the agent that represents me in both transactions, plus another $150k for the agents on the other side. $300,000 in commissions for ONE family’s move. That is insane. How many hours do you think an agent should put in to earn $150,000?
