Good luck Submarine and continue to work it diligently.
I have been studying my case with the Farmers offer and it seems the coverage he is quoting for the rental is less than what I should get so the premiums will look enticing. This is not to say they don’t have good policies. But I came in with a number to beat. He MIGHT be trying to undercut the other quotes I have, but it is not looking like apples to apples.
One item was coverage for loss of rental income on the unit during a claim period. There are others,I can’t remember right now, they are in my notes and I have someone else working on it for me so we are getting all the cards on the table. I do think in the end I’ll get the right balance of coverage and cost…Not sure who I will go with. My Allstate agent doesn’t badmouth Farmers, in fact, he speaks well of them. He just said not all agents are going to put together the best package.
I don’t like Allstate based on a claim I had, but I like my agent and I know I can beat their BS if they bring it. Until now, I didn’t think I had many reasonably priced choices either, due to the fire hazard.
One thing to watch out for is how far they require brush be cleared for a fire zone. Some require 300 to 500 feet which can be excessive or impossible, and cost much more to keep up with than the additional cost of a more expensive policy.
