I don’t think one 6-figure income will easily buy SFR in CV. Two 6-figures will do.

Are you aware that 6 figures go up to $999,999? And you claim that wouldn’t buy a SFR in CV?
But in a way you are right that we don’t make near 999,999. But over half my co-workers do have working spouses. Including me. I, and many of my co-workers, could live in CV.

Maybe I am wrong about San Marcos. What I mean to say is if you can comfortably afford an upscale area, you can unlikely to live in a bellow average area. [/quote]
I don’t understand why things run in streaks around here: there for awhile, everyone talked trash about Temecula for no apparent reason to me…I’ve driven around there quite a bit and it is a nice town.
Now people are talking smack about San Marcos and the SM school district. It flabberghasts me. Every city has good areas and bad areas, including Carlsbad and San Diego (BTW, Carmel Valley is just a neighborhood within San Diego…a city which also includes Encanto, SE San Diego, San Ysidro and Otay Mesa – wanna compare San Diego’s worst to San Marcos’ worst?).
Similarly, San Marcos has different neighborhoods ranging from new and upscale to old and ragged.
If you want to sink all your cash into your home, then by all means go ahead and do it. I’ve done it before and hated it. I, and many like me, chose to buy a home in a decent (not upscale) area and do other things with the rest of our cash.
