I am generally against union excess, but there is a LOT to be said for loyalty on BOTH sides of the fence.
I write software so if I want a raise I generally have to go find a new job, where I can market my new skill at a premium. My previous employer then hires (and trains) a new developer for the job for about what I got on my new one. Makes more sense they would agree to a decent raise, but not the way it works. OK in this economy if you have a decent job you shut up and are happy…[/quote]
Exactly. Normal people, if they hate their boss or want a raise, just go find another job.
