I agree with the CEO of NUCOR when he says that free trade is a joke. There IS no free trade and we should require “equitable” trade or fair trade.
When foreign countries have access to our market and compete against American companies the foreign companies should be forced to manufacture their products under the same rules our companies have to in order for it to be fair trade.
The concern for the environment and workers rights under the EPA, NLRB, FLSA, and the FLRA are considerations that should be taken into account as well as government subsidies BEFORE any “Free Trade Agreement” is signed into law.
We can’t compete with these foreign companies who pollute the environment and pay wages far below what is the law here! It is not protectionism to demand fair trade.
