Well France was right about the Iraq war, but it didn’t escape the backlash because it is deeply secular (banned burka), has the largest Muslim population in Europe (colonial past), high youth unemployment (disproportionately along ethnic lines), has been militarily very active on a number of fronts fighting jihadists. and its freedom of speech (Charlie Hebdo) hardly warms it to western hating muslims.
