[quote=deadzone]Scarlett, I am not very impressed by Madrid. I think I visited your unit last month. A LOT of freeway noise mediocre condition and bad floor plan. In general everytime I decide I want to give La Jolla Colony a try I come away disappointed. Overall it is very overrated and overpriced.

Deadzone,
Were you looking to rent in the area too? What areas/complexes you looked at and you liked? Just curious, to get an idea of your preferences.
Overpriced? if you are talking about sales prices , yes, definitely. Probably has 20% more to go down. Rents? It seemed comparable to other places like Vista La Jolla.
Personally I liked very much this floorplan, compared to other townhomes I’ve seen. But then each has his own preferences, and tolerances. Depends also on how much furniture and stuff you have. The noise from I-5 is there, but it never bothered us in the house. Not bad. I also loved all the beautiful green and lush landscape. You don’t see that in other complexes.
That being said, I’ve seen in open houses the same floorplan in much better shape, with more upgrades. I wouldn’t buy this unit I live in unless it would be less than 400K AND I’d get a 50K towards upgrades, so I can upgrade it to my liking. Remodeling the cabinets, repaint professionally, recarpet, change the lights and bath fixtures, put A/C in, finish the garage and install more cabinets. Oh, and re-do the walls to the master bathroom which is a joke so tiny it is (the tub+toilet room).
So the bottom line is, in general I like Madrid, I don’t like Barcelona, Valencia is too expensive, and I don’t like my unit *that* much. But it’s just a rental for a year or 2 max. so we can put up with those things. I actually had to shift my mind frame from buying to rent, and decided not to be too picky. Overall we are happy with it as a rental.
