So, yes, I am happy.
And where do you think all the money to pay for all this is coming from? Your family doesnt have the money to cover the costs associated with the health care they demand. Few persons have that money, so most pool their money with their co-worker and their company and get it that way. Your family doesnt have that option apparently, so they need a subsidy from someone else, or they dont get it. Simple as that. Nothing is free in this world, and you are happy because the government has decided to transfer weath from others to pay for your familys needs. Not suprising, most people would feel the same way. But dont be supprised when others are frustrated at the reduction in their quality of life for your families health care expenses.
Who’s you daddy? Is he Bill Gates? If so, than yeah, no need to worry about not having health insurance. But of course you are not. What’s the goal of having ‘insurance’? It exists because MOST people don’t have the means to be prepared for any surprises in life such as car accidents/fire/illness.
What the bill does is reform health insurance, not setting up a Universal Health care. No?
You talk about quality of life going down. I assure you for those who couldn’t get health insurance (about 30 million?) their quality of life is going way up. And it’s not just for those who don’t have health insurance now but others who have them but have to worry about losing it when they somehow lose their jobs. One (very important) less thing to feel insecure about. I’d say quality of life is going up.
he, I knew that would generate some wild ass emotional responses that had little to nothing to do with disproving what I said. I considered not posting it for a while, but in the end did becuase absoultly nothing I said in it isnt correct, or written in a mean spirited way. It isnt a personal slam against AFX, that is why I deleated everything except the “I am happy” part.
I was attempting to reply that the part of society that benifits most from this legeslation is the part that will pay little to nothing for this benifit. That is just a fact not changed by people dying of diabeties or anything else. Dont be suprised why people not being helped by this, and in the case of those with great coverage or the rich, actually financially hurt by it, are not happy about it. We can debate the necessity of a society to provide insurance to everyone all day, and I will listen intently. I, in some ways, already do agree with you. But that should serve as a wakeup call to expain why it is important, not some angry ‘who’s your daddy’ detribes.
(I personally think that alot of the anger and frustration over this bill comes from the fact that it was poorly communicated, mis-understood, and rammed through with some parlimentry procedure that leaves a stench on everything passed by it. It doesnt help that it is the center piece of the Obama administrations efforts and if it had been stopped, and perpaps even if passed in this mannor, will aid the minority party in an election year. Front loading the benifits, back loading the costs, and berating anyone who questions you as a murder who wants to see people with treatable diseases die in the streets is a perfect way for the plurality, those not helped directly by this, to smell a rat.)
As for the above response, first off I am glad you totally agree with me that most people cant afford health care outright. That is why I stated that in the post. I then went on to explain that most people get their health care in a communal pool that averages out the risk in their work place. Employers, with a financial incentive to have a healthy workforce, assist in this to make it affordable. You also agree with me. And to the fact that this will raise the quality of life for those who previously didnt have any insurance, you also apparently agree with me. The governement has decided to raise taxes on certain activites and individuals to pay for other individuals health insurance. I suppose I only emplyed that the purpose of this was to raise the quality of life for those who didnt have insurance before, I kinda thought that was understood, so my bad. I obviously should have stated more clearly that this will hurt some to benifit more.
