Sorry, but it sounds the same to me. If you want to be original, you’re screwed in such area. If you like to conform, then such area would be great. I paid for my house with my money, so I don’t like to have people tell me what I can and can’t do with my house, be it paint, window covering, trees, etc.[/quote]
Conform? Can’t be original? Please.
Yes, there are certain things you cannot do. It’s intentional, because while you might think your original thinking is grand – everyone else on the block might disagree.
Want to do whatever you feel like, and are happy for your neighbors to do the same? Don’t buy into an HOA.
Want the general scheme of the neighborhood to be kept, the parks maintained, no RVs in front of your house, no satellite dishes on every roof, no cars parked on the front lawn, no crazy paint jobs, etc? An HOA might be attractive.
You wouldn’t be upset if your neighbor painted their house hot pink, their fence snot green, put a car up on blocks on the front lawn, and a 30 foot satellite dish in their backyard?
I’ve seen some crazy stuff driving around looking for houses. You might like your neighbors style today… you might not your next, and good luck selling if you live next to the circus.
