Alcoholics who are able to function in society are less likely to admit they have a problem. I’m sorry for your friend. I hope you are a little more sympathetic towards him and understand that it is a disease. I’ve unfortunately had experience w/alcoholics in the past. It was like being w/Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Very difficult to watch the self-destruction. Makes you feel helpless b/c you feel like you need to do something and try to fix them. Trust me, though, that unless they want help, be prepared to let them fall.
