I wanted to ask this question for a long time and it also tide to RE. Inflation data from the government always says it is contained and that everything other than core is moderate. I have heard this for over a year. Why is it that they separate the core from others? Is there any reason that justifies this way to calculate inflation? I thought this is lying to themselves. Most other countries don’t do it like this. What is the history of this lying method?
