Grocery stores offering thick plastic bags for 10 cents after passing the law to ban “plastic bags” was plain dumb. Many people are more than happy to pay an extra 40-50 cents a week for the convenience. I believe the net effect of this is that there are more plastics going to the landfill. I also noticed that more and more restaurants (esp. Asian ones on Convoy) start using disposable plastic cups after the banning of plastic straws. If these laws were intended to help the environment, so far it doesn’t seem like it’s working as intended.
