For the person from Oregon…if you live in a middle-class suburb here, you’ll be pretty safe. Do keep in mind that I believe we are the car theft capital of the USA. As for illegals, you probably should worry more about their drunk driving. We’ve had a couple of high-profile drunk driving cases in recent months involving illegals who killed others with their cars/trucks.

Hillcrest and Pacific Beach are very cool areas, but I would not live in either one of them anymore because of the crime. When I lived in P.B., I was burglarized twice and my neighbor was raped. And one infamous very early morning (when it was still dark), a guy who had robbed the gas station behind the house we rented ran past my husband, who was loading his car. The guy had a gun and a bag of money. At least he said, “How’s it going, man?” to my husband!
