I am fortunate enough and blessed to watch Grayson’s commercials here on local TV. uggghhh… Since I am not into the party politics thing I had no idea who he was until moving out here…
Anyway based on the 30-second spot of watching Lurch try to kick a football in the Citrus Bowl, telling us how “tough he was on crime”, and announcing how tough he was on wasted taxpayers money… I remember commenting to my wife….Let’s see connecting with football voters in the south…check Talking tough on crime….check I said without even looking him up I can tell you exactly what party he is running for as a candidate. These guys are always so predictable and obvious trying to pretend to appeal to the bubba vote. Sure enough I was dead on about his leanings, and trying to be a “regular guy” in his ads.
Now to the OP if she wants to work on campaigns just start with the locals running for office. Preferably one she believes in, but don’t just look for Congressional races. I am sure you can find some of the local senate/representatives for your state house (are you in Cali). I am guessing they need more help than the national candidates.
Also, the national candidates who have a chance are still getting funding, whereas lost causes lose all their national money and have to fight harder for local donations. I read about a long-term incumbent Demo in Minnesota with exactly one donor from her district. Folks like that need all the help they can get.
I have a 16 year old who happens to be pretty conservative leaning libertarian like me (don’t care about thinks like pot etc.) The pessimist in me wants to tell him don’t go volunteer for these spineless jellyfish politicians who are basically looking money to keep the gravy train rolling. However I am torn between telling him (when the time comes) to go try something out like your 16 year old is…..and whether I should pass along my cynical outlook about the game being rigged.
