I’m purposely being a bit provocative, bordering on Troll behavior, for that I’m sorry if I offended. I will be nicer. I guess a forum topic like this is sure to get some responses, it was meant to. I’ve owned and rented at various times in my life. I don’t really believe that renting is for losers. As noted above, there are some great +s
You’re not being provocative. Boring, yes. Sophomoric, yes. Specious, yes. But not provocative.
You throw what you believe to be the verbal equivalent of a Molotov cocktail out there, and fancy your actions to be “provocative”. They’re not. Your statements here, and heretofore on this board, have been for one purpose: to cause a visceral reaction in the reader.
Perhaps I am misjudging you, and have failed to grasp a deeper meaning in your words. Fair enough. Then explain to me how subscribers to this board should react to “I pose a question. Is renting for losers or smarties?”
The issue is not that you’re not being “nice”. No one is upset or offended by your tone (one can quickly ascertain this by reading the questions and responses on any number of Piggs threads). We’re offended by the lack of intellectual content. Your posts might cause people to react viscerally, but they are devoid of anything that might make readers think.
This is a discussion board. Most of the people that post here are fully aware that many of the other Piggs may not be in full agreement with them. Sometimes the discussions can get fierce, and insults can abound. But they ARE discussions: an exchange of ideas.
Your threads are NOT discussions. You are clearly uninterested in any opinions aside from your own, which, based on the archived evidence of three years, are staggeringly one-dimensional. What’s far worse, through, is that you are completely unwilling to defend any ideas or principles you may have. You throw a vituperative, and often baseless comment out there under the guise of presenting a topic for discussion, but when “discussion” commences, especially that which may be confrontative, you’re nowhere to be found. By all appearances, you’re a chickenshit. An illiterate one at that.

Enlighten us. What kind of responses was it meant to get?
I don’t really believe that renting is for losers.
Really? The it would appear that you were being untruthful in the original post. Again, what was your purpose?
There’s too much group think on this site.
I know I’m gonna regret this….but exactly what do you mean by this statement?
I think that many people are convinced that renting is always the best solution. Depending on your stage in life and financial circumstances, renting may the best solution. Isn’t it a bit valuable to peer into the soul of a landlord? Some of you may call me slumlord. I want people to really look into the pros and especially cons of renting. There are also negatives of buying that all those who bought in 2005 can attest.

Okay, okay, I get it. You’re the poor misunderstood guy, who just wants people to benefit from your extensive experience as a landlord. I see it now that you’ve given us a glimpse: your post was just meant to make group-thinking Piggs “really look into the pros and especially cons of renting.”
Except then I go back to your original topic post, and I read, “I pose a question. Is renting for losers or smarties?”.
