bio-science companies will always get funding from NSF, NIH and lately the department of homeland security. Money is not an issue even though it would be nice to be profitable. The biggest threat to SD bio-science industry is competition from other areas in the USA.

For the next 10 years QUALCOMM is unlikely to outsource on a large scale. QUALCOMM is a chip design company. There have been little success outsourcing chip designs to India/China.
