I lived north of the bay area for two and a half years in Guerneville (which is in western Sonoma County) among the redwoods near the Russian River. Our second winter there we got over 100 inches of rain. For a stretch of time it rained for 30 days in a row.

It was beautiful, yes, magical in the trees.

But there is magic here in the sunshine at the beach as well.
