You’re only stated reason for raising taxes on those who make more than 250k is because it’s more than you make. There has to be a more elegant argument you can make here. If not, then stop trying.
Maybe to stimulate your thinking, here’s mine… A progressive income tax tied to cost of living by MSA. This is not what we have. Our current tax system does not accomodate cost of living indices in the slightest, even at the state level. It leaves folks making 250k in CA at a much lower, albeit better than middle-class, standard of living than 250k earners in TX. The 250k number is arbitrary, and this same school of thought holds true at all income levels. Even yours. This is why you should expand your thinking on this.
