With regards to the lobster “shrinking” when out of the water…is that similar to George Constanza’s “shrinkage” issues many years ago in “Seinfeld”? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, never mind…
That story really bothers me – not that your lobster was .5 mm too small, but that the people who should be punished – e.g. the repeat offender with the truckload of stuff – gets off lightly. Ugh.
I spoke to my “almost felon” friend today. She’s mulling over a job prospect (has to let them know by Monday) and freaking out about the background check process. She said, “gawd, it just all sounds like an episode of ’24’ or something…I dont want to get into the details.”
Her misdemeanor ‘plea’ ended up being disorderly conduct. She is actually thinking of saying that she was at a rally protesting Bush and the war and that things got out of hand.
I told her this is a bad idea on a few levels, but mainly because I think if a potential employer found out that she wasnt truthful it would look a LOT worse. In my experience, I’ve found that things have a way of biting one in the arse…
I also pointed out that it wasnt grand larceny, prostitution, embezzlement, or assault.
What the other poster said about cops being taught to just “take control” makes sense. And, yes, that guy does sound scary. Armed power/control freaks…all they need is a lack of education, morals and/or soul and they can make life a real rodeo.
