Although I am not on the fence any more, this is very true. When I started my home search 18 months ago (1 yr ago in SD), I was much more willing to buy at the high end of my range. By this year, I was pushing for homes in the low end.

I came back up a tad only because I found less competition at prices a tad higher than my low end. But I became more conservative with my housing budget over time, and it was conservative to begin with.
