I understand the opinion that homosexuality doesn’t seem normal due to physical anatomy and biological reproduction, however it would seem that most people wouldn’t chose to be gay given the challenges that accompany the gay lifestyle. Those that I know to be gay will say they were born this way, and frankly I believe them. Certainly there are some personality disordered people such as borderline personality that exhibit behaviors characteristic of sexually acting out, switching back and forth between gay and straight, but I don’t count them in the general gay population. I don’t think psychologists or scientists have come to an accepted conclusion as to why some people are gay. Regardless of the reason for homosexuality, it seems these individuals should have the same protections under the law that is allowed to all citizens.
I have watched my brother-in-law make the “choice” to be straight. On the surface his life seems pretty good – he has a nice home, good job, friends, etc, but if you look more closely he has a pretty empty and sexless marriage and has a false front around all his friends and church members – what a choice!
I am curious to know if those that do not support gay marriage have any experience knowing a commited gay couple?
