I’m unwillingly a landlord in Idaho. Unfortunately through no fault of my own, I’m actually kind of a slum lord in Idaho!
I am taking ownership of a mobile home. The problem is that the former tenant trashed the place. I don’t mean lightly either. I’m having to decide whether to pay to rip out the carpets, however cleaning the toilets is apparently mandatory to even show it.
The only real reason I’m posting this is to receive the ribbing I so rightly deserve after all my years of real estate abstinence. Talk about paybacks being a bitch. Here I go through all the precautions I can to avoid A)children B)real estate liability and I end up with at least one of them.
I will be lucky to get out of this, break even. In the mean time I get the joys of paying slip rent, and keeping the utilities on as well as having the locks re-keyed.
