I have just been to the British Science Museum and saw an Atari 2600 on display. I used to have one of those. Curiously they also had an electric stove from the ’50s identical to the one in my current rental apartment.

October 31, 2010 at 2:42 AM #624782CoronitaParticipantWhen we were growing up? Some of us are still working on that….
Funny you should ask, because I was just in the middle of unpacking my crap and inventory-ing it….after my parents gave me the ultimatum…”Now that you have your own home, move your crap out of ours, or Goodwill here we come”….Yup, apparently I’m a pack-rat.
Bad news for my daughter. She gets a lot of hands-me-down….Most of which are boy toys.
So…Here’s a trip down memory lane….
Note: to relive a similar childhood hands-on, I’m charging $5 admissions/hour π————————
Favorite Toys (non electronics):1. ……Parents never let me and my sibling have a real dog. We got this instead…
[img_assist|nid=14146|title=snoopy|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=267]

2. …..Rubber ducky, you’re the one… You make bathtime so much fun…
[img_assist|nid=14147|title=rubber ducky|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=267]

3. …Back when Olympics had ONE mascot per host country….Not the 7-8 retarded looking ones from the Bejing games…
[img_assist|nid=14148|title=sam|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=267|height=400]
4 ….Tribute to my old Mr. Potatohead, whose plastic disintegrated while in storage for the past decades…I will miss you, Original Mr. Potatohead…Especially because you didn’t have leaded paint…RIP…Shown below is the $5 Made in China Amazon.com special, of course…

Boy toys:
1…..My first toolset…. Hmmm, I wonder which one I can use to unbolt an Audi coilpack.. Unfortunately the nails and green wrench has seen better days..
Side note: if anyone is aware of a company/facility that can do injection molds that are open to general consumers, let me know. It would be interesting to have someone remake the wrench and nails…
[img_assist|nid=14150|title=toolset|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=267]
Made in Usa… In service…
2. Space Shuttle. Since at one point my dad worked for defense/space and comm. Back then, toys like this were made in usa….just like our space program….Today, toys are made overseas, outsourced to companies that are the lowest bidders….just like our space program… Oh, the irony….
[img_assist|nid=14152|title=space shuttle|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=267]

3… Got this, with someone telling me…”One day, you’ll be able to afford a real one”….Fvcker lied…Affording a Porsche cup car hasn’t come around yet 30 years later….

5… HotWheels/Matchbox stuff (Missing my Hotwheels car collection…)
I wanted a “Super cliff hanger” racetrack.. But this was much cooler, because the purpose was to crash as many cars as you can…. I bent a few Hot Wheels playing with this.
[img_assist|nid=14154|title=CCC|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=267]
Misc Hot Wheels/Matchbox playsets…
