As I mentioned on another thread, similar experience w/my cousin who worked 30 years at a factory, now on unemployment. He has no interest in getting trained for a new job.

When he first was out of work, I felt bad. That’s all he did since he got out of high school. Now, I have no sympathy.

Can’t tell people how to live, but I’m dumbfounded that people don’t bother to better their lives and contribute to society rather than be a parasite. I guess maybe they like their life as is.

Personally, I would have a little sense of pride and would want to obtain a job, not be on unemployment forever.

From what I understand, you need to certify that you’re looking for job in order to get your unemployment check.

Now if you lie, then that’s another story.

Unemployment is insurance and not welfare. It’s funded by premiums (taxes) paid by employers. But of course the extensions are government bailouts.

I don’t give a flying f*** about a few layabout lifeguards paying into unemployment for a few months and then withdrawing for a while. Hell I should have done that when I was younger, I probably would have had more fun. But criminal finance oligarchs that extort billions in bailouts for themselves and their buddies, that gets me angry.
