Hi Marion,
The more pressing question is, where were you shoe shopping in O’side? Were you shopping for nurse’s shoes or construction boots? I’m just curious. I live in Temecula and have to schlep myself down to Escondido for Nordstrom’s to buy shoes.
I have a GPS unit that I love. It’s the Garmin Nuvi 660. I bought it last November and it has been my trusted co-pilot ever since.
It looks up addresses, lists food and lodging options, plays MP3s, displays photos and even provides traffic info (for an extra monthly fee).
My husband is a gadget geek and he thinks this is a great GPS. If it’s something you want, I can ask him to look for a good online deal for you (he is the most ‘deal savvy’ person I’ve ever met).

I echo dharmagirl’s disbelief that you were shoe shopping in Oceanside!! nordstrom.com or piperlime.com would be MUCH better choices, and you wouldn’t get lost! I just picked up two pairs from nordstrom.com myself. . .
As for the GPS, my husband also has a Garmin personal one that he uses for running, and he LOVES it. The only caveat I would add is to keep your receipt, as his failed unexpectedly, but the company’s customer service was excellent, and they immediately replaced it.

The blue tooth is suprisingly good but place it close to you like above the rear view mirror or somewhere within reach and not directly above the a/c vents to use the bluetooth. When the phone rings a big flashing phone pops up on the screen and the name of the caller in addition to the ring and if you touch it the call is answered, you don’t need to hang up if the other person does, it hangs up automatically. you can also scroll through your contacts and recent call on the screen, they are automatically transferred with the bluetooth hookup so you don’t need to look at your phone. Even if I know where I’m going I use it for the phone, time of arrival and traffic features.
