I’ve noticed people mention that they use the http://www.ziprealty.com site. When I did this a few months ago, the featured ‘local agent’ started emailing me and giving me the (relatively) hard sell.
He kept emailing me to see if we could meet up. And he was terrible with details – after I agreed to a meeting in a few weeks (when my house-buying partner would be in town), he forgot and once again asked to set up a meeting. Plus he called me by the wrong name (i.e., my name is not Lisa). As a result, I told him I was planning to wait longer before seriously looking for a house.
I know he was looking at the properties I saved, and sending me emails about them. When I performed a search (didn’t save any properties) using one of the Piggington links a couple of days ago, I was hoping he wouldn’t notice – then today I got an email from him asking if I would like to look at properties.
My question is, have any of you experienced this in using the ZipRealty site, and if so did you stop it and how? I have already opted out of the ZipRealty email notifications. I understand that the agent is trying to make a living, but I feel so much more comfortable using Redfin – where you take the action to contact the agent.

Try http://www.sdlookup.com/ instead. It doesn’t have screens like Zip, but at least you don’t get hassled. On the flip side, you can arrange homes in order by price, sqft, etc; and the pictures are also more clear. I also find it easier to navigate through. Hope that helps somewhat.
