IT market

One one hand I read reports that the labor market in general is tight and especially in tech it is ridiculously tight. In our company we have had 2 open jobs for almost 8 months with no suitable candidates.

On the other hand, wages are low compared to living costs, no raises, companies balk at giving benefits (2 weeks vacation for 20 years experience? c'mon now!)

When I look at jobs I see salaries from 1999-2000 being offered.

My company is outsourcing/offshoring IT jobs like crazy.

I feel the same. Anecdotal as it may be, I've gotten little to no raise in the last few years. I'm not averse to jumping, I've been where I'm at for a decade. However I don't see anything better. I'm not looking terribly hard.
