Spam filtration — never mind

UPDATE: the spam filter plugin is totally buggy so I had to uninstall it. Totally lame and disappointing. I don’t have time to pursue this further so for now, none of the below applies any more.

Hi all — Comment spam has gotten a lot worse in recent months so I’ve installed an automated spam filter on new comments and forum topics. If something is flagged as spam, it will be put in a queue for my review.

These filters are automated so it’s likely it will issue both false positives and false negatives. The good news is that the filters learn from their mistakes so they should start to work better over time.

In the case of a false positive, ie if you post legit content that gets flagged, I apologize for the inconvenience. As I said your content will go into a moderation queue, which I will check from time to time. Unfortunately I do not get notified when comments are flagged, so if this happens to you please feel free to email me at [email protected] to let me know something is sitting in the queue waiting for me, otherwise I might not see it in a timely manner.

In the case of a false negative, ie actual spam made it through, you can help out by sending me a link to the offending post so that I can flag it as spam to get rid of it and help the system learn.
