I am very interested in finding out if there is a freely available public-records link that shows for a given property its current loan position. For instance, any HELC or seconds taken out against the property.
My expectation is that this data actually isn’t public record and must be purchased from a “Dataquick”-like source. Is this the case? I’ve seen several follow-on postings where this loan data for a given property is posted, so I know it is available somehow.
The reason I am interested in this data is because I was hoping to do some spot checking of older neighborhoods to see how much the home “ATM” has actually been tapped.
What I’d really like to see is a “heat map” that shows available equity in homes at the city level – much like the Zillow “heat map” that shows price/sq-ft at the city level. New developments (post 2003/2004) will look flat I expect, since it seems prices have receeded to those levels. But, it might also be the case that some older neighborhoods could be in similar bad shape if the HELC activity has been high.
I did some more digging at http://www.dataquick.com and I now see that this kind of information is easily available, at a cost. So, let me rephrase my question…
Is the detailed loan position information available from Dataquick via their Primera product available somewhere via public record? E.g. if one does the work themselves can they get this data w/o paying big $$ to DataQuick?
