Just a little public service announcement for those who havent noticed or heard what is happening in Encinitas. In the last year, the dining options have gotten amazing along the 101. Everyone of these places is packed 7 days a week.
Q’ero-peruvian food is a treat not to be missed but requires reservations a week or two in advance
Blue Ribbon Pizza-is probably the best artisan pizza in SD County that I have found
Union-opened a couple months ago with a killer beer assortment and very good food.
Whole Foods-while not a restaurant per se opened about a month and is a great place to grab a take out meal to eat on the patio.
Now the biggest and best news of all. For the last 2 years I have been hearing rumors that the owners of Urban Solace were scouting for a North County Coastal location. With little fan fare they slipped into town and are currently operating far under the radar behind Barracuda a few shops to the North of Whole Foods. The restaurant is called Solace at the Moonlight Lounge and someone in the trade tipped me off so I had dinner there last night through their soft opening. While they need to upgrade their wine list and get better staff the food was incredible. Instantly one of the best places to eat along the coast and not obscenely expensive. If you get the chance and are looking for a real treat check it out. As soon as people find out about it, the place will be packed 7 days a week like the others.
