svelte, tell your son he can order a custom-made carpet to match the dash with his initials in it at Pep Boys or even Costco (I think) for about $40-50. This will cover the dash and keep it from from cracking more in the sun.

And I meant to say the car is a 99, not an 89. Sorry, got my decades mixed up.
