Participant…oh, and forgot to mention…we’re not for limitations on casinos. Let the Indians open as many as they want!
I kinda like the idea of them buying America back one parcel at a time…with money that was gambled away to boot!
Thanks Colombo! I thought that right was revoked all together – didn’t realize I could still vote on the Dem side. Great info…
Now, what sense does it make for the Reps to not allow independents to vote? If I can vote in the Dem primary, it gets us independents used to voting that way…

Participant“Well, he’s Catholic but he’s more handsome than Nixon!”
CUTE!
His story repeats itself, Obama is a goodlooking guy,…….. but I don’t think that’s why my husbands voting for him. He doesn’t like Hiliary. I don’t think he thinks she’s goodlooking either, lol!I am not as “in the know” as you all. I just like what I have seen and heard, he’s gotta great vibe, get ready for change! Grew up a union brat(if there is such a thing), my father also a Navy veteran. My parents were always liberals. My father in the middle. He pretty much hated everybody equally! My mother always told us that the Republicans tried to bribe her father, he got fed up with the coruption and changed parties. Then there was “Tricky Dick”. We knew they were all crooked but we felt, Republicans…….worse. I grew up in middle class, blue collar, all white Santee, all my friends came from ex-hippie or college age parents in the 60’s. We all had a pretty liberal blue collar upbringing. I don’t know when it changed……..but it is the land of the conservative now!
My husband has put in his retirement after 21 years in the Navy. He says he can’t work for a government he can’t support, believe in, or trust. He was in both Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He thought he was ready to fight for what he was told was right and now feels decieved(no weapons of mass destruction). He is no longer Republican.
Don’t get me wrong Republicans have their place in the world, for balance. I just believe in a democracy not a theocracy …….
Hililiary pisses to many people off(republicans seem to hate her passionately), but if she beats Obama……….
Marion,
Thanks for asking great, so many fireworks! A friend of mine got pretty toasted, she was quite the entertainment that weekend. We had some great laughs at her expense!Oh, and YES all the casinos and the money they provide the Indians and our state. Nevada pays for it’s schools with their gambling tax revenue, we could stand a little help!
GO INDIANS!!!!!!!
My brother only pays .5% property tax on his house in Las Vegas!

I’m sick of the BS put forth by Hillary that she has 30+ years of experience.
Being married to a governer and a president does not qualify you to hold either office. Would you consider the wife of a surgeon qualified to cut you open? The wife of a plumber qualified to install your new water heater?
Hillary has never had an executive position to my knowledge. Being senator for a term or two does not qualify you to run the country.

As for experience, Obama rhetorts with ‘Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld were two of the most experienced politicians this country has ever known. And look where that got us.’ This government needs to be destroyed and rebuilt. You don’t do that with experience. You do that with fresh ideas and beliefs.
Also, wasn’t Lincoln a junior senator when he was elected? I could be wrong on that, but that’s not a lot of experience either. Oh, and he was from Illinois too. Coincidence?
Bottom line: Experience is overrated and this country needs change.
As for the Indians? YES they should have more slots. I love going to the casino to kill a couple hours. I was really bummed a couple years ago with that failed prop to allow them REAL craps and roulette machines, not this half-assed “card craps” or whatever they went with instead. And, yah, we haven’t even payed them for all this land yet.

I say this just about everyday! Politics as usual have got to go. The only real change will come when someone stands up and rallies the US into 60’s style protests and starts a revolution!!! Unfortunately, probably not in our lifetime……….

You’re the first one in this thread, other than me, to support Edwards. I’m a lib and a feminist, to some extent, but I feel Obama and Clinton are unelectable. The hatred of Hillary out there — and a lot of it is from conservative women — is very worrisome. If it comes down to Hillary or Obama over Rudy…well, I can live with Rudy. But what if Huckabee is the nominee? That frightens me. Do you think he has a chance?

Hillary has never had an executive position to my knowledge. Being senator for a term or two does not qualify you to run the country.
Although I’m not for Hillary because she will raise taxes on the upper middle class but Bill Gates does not have an MBA and yet many would consider him the most successful businessman around for his foresight, vision and strategy.

ParticipantHi Marion,
Nice to know someone is nice enough to say hello around here…….:)(back @cha’)
I have been writing alot lately……I am constantly checking updates on the market…I am getting REAL ancy.
The home I am looking for is a 4 bedroom with pool, and unfortunately they are hard to come by(in my area)…..Usually, it’s just 4b or pool(with family room, fireplace and RV space). There are a couple up in shortsale mode and one that was foreclosed on in Oct., that needs a ton of work, but they haven’t listed it yet on the MLS.. Now, if I want to get my “exact” location of my hearts desire, when do I buy? If I wait will the few in my area get bought (that don’t even have everything I want) while I wait for interest rates and prices to keep decreasing? I don’t want to catch a falling knife, but I don’t have to wait until bottom either… I don’t see others comming up in my area on these foreclosure sites…..then I think of moving to a different city, to broaden my search of available homes….my kids want this area that specific school and our friends are here……..blaa blaa blaa….just ranting…but if you have any advice…. I ask anyone who believes this:
Why are you going to the polls?
That is the biggest confirmation that you don’t care if there is any change. As long as people vote or don’t vote and stay at home and watch TV or slave away mindlessly to pay debt these elections are a relative success for both parties.I won’t vote for any of the people that are really likely to win and I have not for years. Is that apathy? No it is conscience. We deserve better and so does the world.
Should I vote for the lesser of two evils? No that is incredibly apathetic. Besides, I can’t decide who that is no matter how hard I try. I am not sure I have met anyone who uses that phrase who also isn’t ultimately just lazily voting their own psychological or material self interest. Either way it is apathetic.
Voting my self interest would unjustly put the blood of innocent men women and children on my hands just as much as there is blood on the hands of the current tyrannical regime and those who supported it and continue to support it. I do not ascribe to a policy around maintaining the largest most comfortable middle class we can have irrespective of being conscientious citizens of the world. I would rather be poor than vote for that party.
Where to put my political energy.
Stand my ground on this explain to anyone who will listen the apathy vs. conscience issue. Never ever have television service. Stay as debt free and as free of cravings for comfort and security including job security or selling houses, so that those issues do not interfere with my courage to formulate and state my opinion for life, not just in my 20’s and to listen to and support a truly wise and just leader(ship) or a revolution of some sort when one comes on the scene and just in the case someday my fellow U.S. citizens are ready to do the same. Some people say this revolution/evolution has already started. I expect moreso the former than the latter. One can hope.

Many people don’t realize that voting for a president is not just voting for a president. The next president will very likely appoint another 1 or 2 justices to the Supreme Court. What does “clean house” or “enema” mean? You went from broad to vague. Best case scenario as things are is the party ratio of the political infighters shifts slightly. ParticipantWow…I can’t believe the popular opinion here…thought this board was much more conservative.
Absolutely baffled by the rampant support for Obama. His resume wouldn’t even qualify him for a Vice President position at my company, though it might get him past the dining room and straight to fries at McDonalds.
Edwards is the biggest pandering populist I’ve ever seen in a long time-I wouldn’t vote for Robin Hood either…Huckabee is conflicted-a consummate populist like Edwards, but with evangelical flair-can’t get past the nonsensical economics on that one-won’t unite the conservative base enough to go further unless he winds up against Hillary.
I don’t hate Hillary, but she brings way too much coat tail riding and baggage-I do believe the cry was sincere, but she remains unauthentic and contrived.
Romney had me for awhile, but I’m now convinced He has more heads than Medusa.
Guiliani is on the road to having more wives than Liz Taylor has husbands.
Ron Paul is oh so close, but he needs an ounce of pragmatism to go with his pounds of idealism.
For better, or for worse, that leaves McCain for me…I’m so fed up with politics, I think I’d vote for someone on either side of the isle that would simply shoot straight…worry about his temper, though.

I say to the self-righteous non-voting ‘protest’ voters that they need to look beyond voting for a PERSON. What’s it gonna take for today’s kids to revolt? My kid seems to think that voting is enough. My high school class was the last to be subject to the birthday draft during Viet Nam. I am female…so it didn’t affect me. Nevertheless, I was out there. I got arrested (and I was underage) at an anti-Spiro Agnew rally (corrupt a-hole) way back then. Charges dropped but my dad, a colonel in the Army Reserve, punished me nonetheless. I am trying to be unbiased here, but I would really like to know your thoughts on what will ignite our youth. At 51, I am too tired and jaded to do anything else but vote.

OBAMA ’08!!!! TTFN -

Even tho I am voting Edwards, looks like Obama is gonna win in this state. Lots of passion among college kids. Fine with me. I’ll vote for whoever the Dem candidate wins. I worry about the Southern states, though, as some people have expressed in the Obama thread. I’m ancient, however. When I was a really little kid, I remember my mom having coffee klatches with the other neighborhood moms and hearing them say about Kennedy, “Well, he’s Catholic but he’s more handsome than Nixon!” The times they are a-changing!

ParticipantI’ll vote for Obama or Clinton, depending upon whose name shows up on the ballot (I’m an independent and don’t get to vote in the primaries). I think they are both qualified and if I see another wavy haired rich old white male in the oval office, I think I’ll get sick!
Besides, we’ve just went through the worst president in US history – anything has got to be better.
I’ve always said what TheBreeze has been preaching – a Dem on one side (Prez or congressional majority) and a Rep on the other. That way they can keep an eye on each other and we get more representative laws and budgets. But for the time being, I’ll take a Dem on both sides to try and erase some of the last decade.
Wifey, she’ll vote Democratic I guarantee you.

ParticipantVoting for Paul in the Primary. That’s the loudest message I can send to the Republicans to return to their fiscal roots.
On the props: no.
No on the Indian gaming. $14Billion over 20 years is a pittance compared to the costs the gaming drives into our communities.
No on the term limits which is really a rollback of term limits from 2 terms in either house to up to 6 terms in the Assembley and 3 in the Senate.
No on the bonds. No on the taxes.
