ot: graduation analysis

I attended relatives college graduations this weekend and was depressed by the speeches … not sure if this is a trend but … the speeches were all personal narratives … hurdles overcome … felt like oddly used up cliches … and inappropriately self-centered. Not sure if this self-absorption is a sign of the financial endtimes or just me getting old and crotchety. But man, that was painful to sit through. I guess graduation has always been long and boring as a ceremony. but this was vaguely unsettling. just checking to see if there is a trend…

Then, when the school Professors own kids were graduating they received special attention. The worst was when the Professors that were sitting on the stage as the graduates received their diplomas and walked by, they only got up to shake the hands of the celebrity basketball players. I kept my mouth shut, but just pathetic.
