So I got pinged about “opportunities at Microsoft” ….
I replied: “Thanks. Do you have any Android projects? ”
What do you think my chances are getting a callback?
So back to my question… My own answer would be…
“Working at microsoft would be like… working for the tech company your gramps use to work at…”

Working at MS would be like working at any other major tech companies with huge war chest.
I got pinged by MS many times. I even got a paid trip to do an in person interview there. They’re pretty generous. However, I can’t get myself to live in an area where it rain all the time. I think I shot myself in the foot with that interview by asking too much questions about their whether :-D. I was 1/2 in 1/2 out when they flew me up there, but getting rained on as I got there really sealed the deal for me. Definitely isn’t worth it, if I’m always miserable. Their pay is VERY competitive, at least that’s what they claimed.
I think it would be pretty fun to work on Windows 8, WP7, Kinnect/XBox stuff.

If I was younger and had no tie downs in Socal maybe, I may have made the mistake of moving up to WA, I know a close childhood buddy who took a Job with Boeing and moved up there. After Three Years and buying a house up there to boot, he could not take it another Day, he quit, rented his house out (that was the early 90’s and like today, most new home owners were underwater at that time too).
Moved back got a Job down in SD and has been down here ever since.
(Oh he eventually sold that house in WA for a nice profit in the last boom, maybe a lesson there or maybe not).
Ok get to the point,
If the Job was local.
(even though everyone knows Socal is so over rated).

I’ll fix that for you:

What annoys me the most about Microsoft is there damn balloons/popups that give you no choice but to click the stupid response button, asking me if I want to do something that I obviously told it to do,asking the same stupid question/again. And don’t even get me going on their stupid network problem solver or whatever they call it, I can do the same thig in a command window in about 5 seconds or less, yet microsoft takes minutes to do it.- Ok so to get to the point what would really! irk me would be working around these idiots and knowing that they are making the big bucks.
Ok I know they are really smart people that work there and are just probably caught up in the “big business syndrome”. Sorry for the rant.
