As I posted around the new year, my kid who just graduated last month from SFSU (biz-related major w/2 related minors) started a new mgmt position with a worldwide tech firm HQ’d in SF with about 1350 workers in SF and Silly Valley. She was hired 20 days after finishing her studies last December and began work 25 days after finishing her studies (with the holidays in the interim). Job’s working out great and they cut two months off her probationary period – passed :=]
There’s NO WAY this would have happened in SD. She would have boomeranged back home and got a job in a coffee shop.

Everyday for the last decade.Mid last year, I was considering moving to the bay since they do have A LOT more positions open. However, when I count in cost of living, it turned out I’m getting paid more down here than up there (especially with my 15 minutes max commute range).

Similar situation here. Seems like everyone and their mom has moved to Norcal in the past few years. Thought about it myself but all things considered it’s pretty hard to leave SD. The pay may be much higher in the bay area but once you factor in the increased work hours/competition, cost of housing and traffic/commute times San Diego starts to look pretty good.
