No, you did not have one too many. That banner went up very recently. It looks like they are converting the Sea Breeze hotel (I think that’s the name) into Condos, “starting from the 180s”!
And yes, it is next door to the Holiday Inn, and is same sort of shape and size – what a great architectural feature! Plus, it overlooks (and hears!) the I-5. Ocean views, close to the ball-park, e-z freeway access….
There are easily 15 floors, and each floor must have at least 10 rooms.
August 1, 2006 at 4:10 PM #30389AnonymousGuestThat’s incredible, just demonstrates how completely whacky this market has become. Someone would actually convert a friggin hotel into high rise tenaments and expect some poor low wage sucker to pay 180K to live in that dump. Disgusting, hope the owner of the project loses their ass (I’m sure they will).
August 2, 2006 at 8:49 AM #30454lindismithParticipantok, it’s actually called the “Bay View Suites” and it’s 12 stories high.
here’s a description I found on the web:
“With 170 spacious one and two bedroom suites, our guests enjoy added amenities such as separate bedroom and living room with pull out sofa, a microwave oven, refrigerator, two TVs, two phones with data ports, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Relax in our oversized whirlpool spa, play golf, go sport fishing or enjoy the numerous recreational activities for the whole family that are nearby.”The address is 801 National City Blvd. I checked Zillow for sales info but didn’t realize you can’t look up commercial properties on Zillow.
What’s not clear to all the readers of this thread is how MASSIVE the banner is advertising the condo conversion on this hotel! I will try to take a pic on my way home today, and post it. For now, here’s a pic of the hotel from the web.[img_assist|nid=1068|title=Bay View Suites|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=400|height=350]

http://www.costar.com
However, you need to have a paid subscription. Commercial brokers use this site to get commercial comps.August 14, 2006 at 11:07 AM #31879PerryChaseParticipantHere’s the Voice of San Diego article the hotel conversion in National City.

August 14, 2006 at 4:36 PM #31890no_such_realityParticipantHmmm, not really a studio, not really a one bedroom. What’s a place called with a bedroom but no stovetop and range for a kitchen?
August 24, 2006 at 9:49 AM #32993lindismithParticipantI had to take a picture of the banner so you can see how huge it is!
They’ve recently added a second banner with the phone number.
That rail in the bottom of the photo is the freeway. Lovely, no?

August 24, 2006 at 9:56 AM #32996CarlsbadlivingParticipantWhere do I sign up?
You’d have to pay me $185,000 to live there.
