Btw, 40% is coming from private donations.-

I take no issue with the 40%. It’s the $75 million in taxpayer money that is beyond offensive. As bad as anything Trump has done, well – except for claiming Absolute Power.

Participant“said Newsom, who noted 10% of the state’s workforce are immigrants living in the country illegally who paid more than $2.5 billion in state and local taxes last year.”
And got those taxes back in using the Earned Income Credit …
“Newsom said the money will not be distributed based on income. “Their personal information will not be required to get those support,”
So the recipients are worried about deportation so they won’t have to give their name. Get in line, collect $500, then get back in line….
Wouldn’t it be nice if Newsom showed more concern for the middle class who are out of work and pay the lions share of the tax collected.

How will this even work? So can I pretend to be undocumented and collect $500? It can’t be that easy.
I would be undocumented….I didn’t bring any ID prior to picking up a check.
A better plan would be to just hand out $500 to everyone with a california drivers license, realId or not, no income requirement
meh. I don’t care. My auto insurance is giving back s rebate check. And people staying home are apparently buying computers. AMD is a $57

I could dress to look like I’m fresh off the boat. *Ask for $500 EACH time until they run out of money.
*Then ask the accessor’s office for a deferral of tax payments saying you have no money.
*Then ask the banks for a mortgage forbearance.
*Don’t forget to call SDGE, San Diego Water, and your cell phone company, and say you can’t pay your next 3 months bill, and ask for a deferral.
*Top it off by buying a bunch of trees and shrubs at home depot. Plant the news ones, dig up your old ones and return your old ones as the new ones.
*Lunchtime: go to Costco and buy a pizza and free drink, and eat everything except the last slice. Then complain “this isn’t a pepperoni pizza, a pepperoni pizza has 5 pepperonis, not 4…” and get a refund on the entire pizza. Don’t forget finish the last piece (like last time some lady in front of me did). Don’t forget when you go back to costco, to bring back your cup and get a free drink refill.

Really? How do you become a “community leader”? Can I become the community leader representing undocumented asians? We’ll need this because I seriously doubt if it’s handed out to “community leaders” it would be fairly distributed to all undocumented ethicities. I promise to give out whatever is left after I pay myself a $200k+ non-profit CEO salary like so many non-profits do. “Administrative overhead” kinda like the CEO of The College Board. I’m not greedy, I don’t need $1million/year compensation like the CEO of the College Board. $200k/year is acceptable for me.

Theres a famous miles Davis tune called FREDDIE THE FREELOADER. Was just wondering where the title originated:
“According to the documentary Kind of Blue: Made in Heaven, and an anecdote from the jazz pianist Monty Alexander, the song was named after an individual named Freddie who would frequently try to see the music Davis and others performed without paying (thus freeloading).[1][3] The name may have also been inspired by Red Skelton’s most famous character, “Freddie the Freeloader” the hobo clown.[1][2]

I’m not confused. I disagree with you.
The Republican golf bill is NOT WRONG. We have no reason to be irritated one iota by trumps use of tax dollars.
The only thing wrong about the golf bill is that it is TOO LOW.
I would honestly prefer that trump spend 500 million a year on importing Russian whores so he can have a fresh one to piss on every hour than waste ONE FUCKING DIME on a brown undocumented laborer. I mean, wouldnt you?
even if you’re not a True American, you surely can see that trumps golf game is morally superior and ethically necessary at the very least compared to feeding brown mud people who shouldn’t even be where they are?
Trumps taxpayer golf billmight arguably be wrong, from the point of view of some liberal homosexual socialist deviant, but it is not the clear and obvious ABOMINATION of giving money to illegal human trash, which is WRONG with a capital W, wrong under mans law, under gods law and under every christian, constitutional and moral principle we true patriots believe in, and write outraged posts about.
The first, trump golf fees, is capitalism winning, the second is a grotesque socialist mockery of everything america holds dear to its Christian heart.
Why should trump not have fresh women every hour on the hour, lined up, so when he has to urinate, he can do it in a foreigners mouth, rather than hard, depressing porcelain.
Just The thought that he might be denied even one fresh unpeed upon whore because we diverted 50 cents to a mexican makes me physically ill.
You cannot in good conscience and in the same breath say that a white Republicans 133 million taxpayer golf bill is wrong in the same sense that brown people cash is wrong.

I suppose on a “dollar per thief” level, the Trump one is worse, though.
And my point still stands that “just because I think one is wrong, doesn’t mean the other is not wrong” holds true.
Even if they are different “levels”, it is not illogical or in consistent to be opposed to both.

ParticipantAnd just you saying “pay 500 to an illegal” bothers me alot.
I’m not saying I think we should deport all the Mexicans or build the wall or even that they are, philosophically criminals – but the fact of the matter is they have broken the law. The gov is supposed to support and enforce the law of the land and if someone has broken the law, they should be punished by the “law” (aka the government). Not paid. Yes, it is deeply disturbing. Trump golfing, also deeply disturbing.
Lehman Brothers bailout – also deeply disturbing.
Adding on – even a socialist should cringe at this because if you take the US as a society that pays taxes to pool resources for the common good, why would we include those that aren’t in the club ? Why wouldn’t those funds go to help those in the social group that paid in the money in the first place.

It is wrong in principle, but right in practice. You don’t want 2 million people (mostly essential workers) so cash strapped that they continue to go to work while having symptoms.
The $133 million is just a comparison. Quite frankly I wouldn’t mind spending $266 million for his golf game if he did even half as good of job as Taiwan’s Tsai Ing Wen.

ParticipantThe way I wish things would have been handled is make this more voluntary versus compulsory through all taxpayers.
For example, it would be good if the state setup a general slush fund to help unemployed people who are legal residence and another one for those that are illegal.
For every dollar you contribute to this slush fund, you get
$0.60 worth of state tax credit up to a ceiling. That way, people who are financially able to can participate, get some sort of benefit from it as an encouragement, and those that can’t can opt out.I’m kinda indifferent to all this government spending since nothing surprises me. No biggie.

the simple truth is, politicians are giving money away is because its a way for them to think of themselves as doing something good,… BUT sadly if ever do they think of the long term finances or the knock on effects!!!
a systemic case in point,…
[quote]
AUDIT: SAN DIEGO’S FISCAL HEALTHSan Diego is the most fiscally troubled city in San Diego County, according to the California State Auditor.
…That poor ranking appears to be driven by the city’s large amount of long term debt, more than $3.3 billion, and its failure to set aside adequate funding to meet the demands of its pension and other post-employment benefit obligations, according to the dashboard.
San Diego also received the worst rating when came to the amount it has set aside in its financial reserves, an issue the auditor specifically highlighted during her press conference.
“The city of San Diego really only has a couple of months of reserves set aside,” said Howle. “This should be a warning flag for city officials and the city of San Diego, that this is an area officials need to focus on.”
this issue is directly related to a front page story that appeared in the UT (where I noticed the UT watchdog missed a few key facts)
http://www.TinyURL.com/13thCheck
basically looking at the issue as an investor
http://www.TinyURL.com/InvestorWarning
we are facing the perfect $hit $torm,… with political leadership consisting of showboating idiots who pander to their own constituencies BUT basically have a history of having NO balls to deal w/ big problems AND shit for brains
for example Todd Gloria who looks to become the next mayor of this city and the irony is if the idiot gets elected he is going to have to fix problem he basically created in the first place?!
http://www.TinyURL.com/ToddGloria
basically seems politicians like giving away stuff that isn’t theirs (for votes)
