“The single guys HAVE to care about what goes in their house, don’t they? I’m sure they don’t want to end up with white tile and cheap stock cabinets.”
As a single guy, it’s all about low maintenance, stylish without being too female friendly. You want to design a pad that gets them to stay late but not in the livingroom and not comfortable enough to stay the whole night. It’s the McDonalds design theory, make it look nice but just uncomfortable enough that they wont stay too long. One chair should be very comfortable and the rest just look good but not feel good, queen size bed is the maximum, kitchen cabinets should not have enough stuff for a woman, some cabinets may need to be removed, always only have one clean towel and it should be smallish. Select comfort hasn’t come out with a covert repellent bed but I may suggest it because I have designed it in my head. On one side it’s comfortable and the other side gives you a backache by 3 am and makes her want to go home. A secret remote control can control it and select which side it happens to just in case. I think I’m going to start a reality T.V. show while the writers strike is going called Straight Eye for the Straight Guy and I’ll be the interior design guy or I’ll write a book called “Net not Nest, how to design a bachelor pad that remains a bachelor pad.”
