The ring is only covered up to the limit o the policy usually a couple of hundred dollars. You will need to get an appraisal and add a rider tro the policy to have it covered.
I have renteres insurance and feel it is helpful in the event I had to leave my premises. I would have to stay somewhere for a few weeks so loss of use is important. Additionally it costs moeny to replace a lot of the stuff we have. Not that is is worth a lot it is just that if we were going to replace it it would be relatively expensive.
As a suggestion see if the compnay that insurees your automobiles offers renters policies. Usually they will provide a discount for packaging the policies together.
