Where else can I park my IRA assetsUser Forum Topic
Submitted by ak1 on August 15, 2007 - 12:21pm
I'm very uncomfortable with whats going on in the markets right now and sold off the bulk of my mutual funds a couple of weeks ago when the Dow was at approx. 13,500. I have my funds in a mixture of EE and I-bonds, CDs (all less then 100k),some muni-bonds. But I'm having problems putting my IRA assets into something fully liquid. I liquidated almost everything there as well and went into Money Market funds. I'm not uncomfortable with the specific MMFs I am in as they are pretty conservative funds, but with whats going on with Commercial Paper etc, I'm uncomfortable with MMFs period right now. But where can I park this money? I bought a couple of CDs but they don't close till next week. It seems like the shortest t-bills I can buy are 7-day. What else can I do with my IRA assets? I've now split this money between multiple MMFs. I'm not sure what else I can do.

You can put it into a mmf that only invests in treasuries. I'd avoid the others.
