What's the story behind this house?User Forum Topic
Submitted by CA renter on August 22, 2008 - 5:22pm
This house was for sale a few months ago, and we were told it sold. Now it's back on, and sdlookup doesn't show the most recent sale. Did it sell? For how much? What's the story? Thanks in advance!

I was there today. Looking at the listing history, it was a short sale that was not a successful one. It went back to the bank on July 31st and is now bank owned. It was listed today as an REO brown lawn special. Any other questions?
That makes sense. Thanks, sdrealtor!
We looked at it the last time it was for sale, and it looked like it needed quite a bit of work.
At 525 it's not a deal. At 475 it aint looking so bad.
Waiting for $275K!!!
(ducks head) ;)
I like that area but it is in the San Marcos school district, not Carlsbad. Not ideal for little ones.
Wrong! It is 5 houses from La Costa Heights which is in the Encinitas school district. The little ones can walk without crossing a single street. Jr High is Oakcrest and Sr High is LCC or Academy-all in San Dieguito school district.
Alright Yoda. Easy. My bad. I mixed up Alga Rd. with La Costa Ave. Levante is south of La Costa Ave. and not Alga Rd. Everything south of Alga and north of La Costa Ave. is within the San Marcos High School boundary, correct?
Nope. Everything North of the San Marcos Creek which runs down the middle of the La Costa Resort Golf Course and east of El Camino Real with a few exceptions is in the SM High boundary. The easy way to remeber is if you can get to it off La Costa Ave you are in San Dieguito HS district.
sdr - I was always curious about that boundary. My clients in Baelaras have kids that went to LCC high school. Thank you for the clear and concise description on the boundary.
sdr does that include the areas off of La Costa, such as Cadencia? I was just looking at a satellite and didn't realize how many homes there are I guess that would be northeast of la costa ave?
The reason I ask is the creek seems to end. This would imply that along Rancho Santa Fe Rd. that everything up to San Elijo was basically LCC territory (San Dieguito that is), but I thought some of those La Costa Oaks areas were San Marcos schools. (what you see on the left if you were driving from Carlsbad into San Marcos)
Cadencia is very much in the San Dieguito/Enc school districts.
If you follow the creek closely you can see it goes through Box Canyon up to the edge of the water treatment plant at Melrose & RSF rds, passes under RSF road and goes through the industrial park on the east side of RSF Rd. All the existing Lc Oaks homes are San Dieg schools. As you travel toward San Elijo on RSF you see massive grading for the second phase of LC Oaks which will likely sit unbuilt for a few more years. Those homes I believe are in SM schools even though they fall on the right side of the creek. I'm not sure about this and if it is true why it would be an exception.
SDR,
The Balerus homes are in either Carlsbad or SM however inter-district transfers are possible particularly if they were already going there b4 moving to LC Greens.

Thanks sdr -
Excellent explanation on the boundary.
