Yep, that's the conclusion of internal affairs.

He still lost his job. Hope someone here gets to buy the pig's house at foreclosure auction after he and his family end up on the street.
What is sad is he acted w/in the policies that they had at the school. But at the same time, they were peaceful protestors sitting on the floor. How could officers feel threatened by that? There is this little thing called First Amendment rights which allows people to peacefully assemble. It would be one thing if there was a riot. Then it would be an unlawful assembly. Sitting on the floor does not justify being pepper sprayed. It was wrong.
"Just following orders" is a crappy excuse. My only qualm is that, really, the whole UC Davis PD should be kicked out onto the street. The money saved by not paying those parasites should go towards lowering tuition.
Oh, I agree that following orders is no excuse. Just b/c it was w/in policy to do, does NOT justify doing it. Add a little common sense in there. There is no justification for pepper-spraying them while they are just sitting peacefully. Period. The Chancellor should have resigned. Go to the top. The buck stops there.
Meh... OWS my ass...
Rising tuition costs??? How about getting a degree that can pay for the cost after you're done...maybe....Oh that's right, folks no longer want to do the dirty work anymore..Those "jobs" are grunt work and should be done overseas....
Considering tuition costs have tripled since the days when I went to school, can't say that I blame them. My brother has a master's degree in international business and was looking for work for 2 years. Said the hardest job he ever had was looking for work. Demoralizing to the ego. And all the while, he has student loans to pay.
I would not be so quick to condemn them. Different times for them now. My cousin has been doing IT work for a good long time. I wouldn't consider it grunt work. He has taken a huge pay cut and every day worries about his job being sent overseas.
Come on, flu. I expect better of you and I hope you are kidding. Getting a degree in these times does not guarantee a job, much less a job that will pay for the cost of the degree.
I'll also add that a girl friend of mine has a degree in finance from SDSU. She was lucky enough to have gotten in many, many years ago before the huge increase in tuition. She has been looking for work for over a year and is being told she is overqualified. Luckily for her, her loans are paid off.
This is a tough economy and I feel for students trying to improve their lives by getting an overpriced education that will not assure them a job to pay off the loans.
Tuition Free Universities in Germany/ Norway.
If I was of college age I would try to emigrate to Norway or Germany..
Universities there are supposed to be "Tuition Free " by law.
Don't know if they have student loans for the living expenses like Beer,
oh maybe someplace to sleep as well.
Yep. OWS are a bunch of asses ... for not organizing enough to paralyze the corrupt shithole known as DC into something resembling Paris in summer.
Their gripes are legitimate -- ever seen what has happened to education and research (other than military crap) since the 1990s? Mostly due to many trillion $ being spend on unwinnable wars.
America ought to be ashamed of itself.
^ Agreed. Wish Rich would have a like button on Pigginton ;)

Well said, spdrun.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with UC pensions...

But hey, it's always wall street's fault.
How about exorbitant salaries. New Chancellor of UCSD is,looking at almost 400k a year. UCSD Chancellor
I'm not surprised, and as I've stated in the past expect more and more aggression from the gov't towards the general public as the economy restructures.
I don't disagree with that. How about protesting against that instead of wall street.
But if that shocks you, how about talking about the salaries of a lot of non-profits???
For example YMCA CEO salary is around $400k, excluding additional comps which brings it closer to $1million... I won't even go into talking about United Way...And that is fundamentally why I won't donate to a big organization. So folks, while it's pretty reprehensible that some bank CEO's that couldn't even turn a profit got nice parachutes, it's not a wall street problem..
It's a more general America Morale/Ethics corruption problem...And same could be said for the pensions and unions.

Not a bad idea. I know some people who chose Germany over USA because of free tuition even for foreign students.
For an American student, it would be a great experience in Europe. Maybe do undergrad in Europe and grad school stateside. Outlook on life would change and broaden. Might even become bi-lingual.

great website by a woman with lots of kids who wrote the book on studying abroad cheap.
it's very exciting to read, kind fo scary to implement, but probably the best thing a kid could do.
Occupy ... hasn't only been about Wall Street, for oh, the last year at least.
