Some questions about StonebridgeUser Forum Topic
Submitted by gn on March 18, 2007 - 3:33pm
I am currently doing research on a neighborhood called Stonebridge: It's near the corner of Pomerado Rd & Scripts Poway Pkwy. I wonder if anyone can help me answering the following questions: 1. Currently, the school district is Poway (even though the zip code is 92131). I notice that some of the nearby homes belong to the SD Unified District. How likely is it that the school for Stonebridge will be changed to SD Unified in the future (since it's in 92131) ? 2. Does anybody know any other website that has more info on Stonebridge ? Thanks very much.

I drive by it all the time. We live at the edge of old Scripps. I could not tell you what the future holds for the school districts that serve Stonebridge. To be honest I did not think Stonebridge residents could send kids to the Poway schools. I know Scripps high is packed and I was under the impression of a new high school to be built down near I15. I know Thurgood Marshall junior high is being built down off of Pomerado. Anyways I would contact the SD Unified school district to find out about the future for Stonebridge.
Here is a link to the Calabria community in Stonebridge. Note this is a different builder.

Yes, the Stonebridge kids go to Poway Unified schools...the current HS is Mt. Carmel in PQ. A friend just moved there and he is going to go to Westview, with an interdistrict transfer. I do not know what will happen in the future, but for now it is PUSD, which is one of the best.
Thanks to SD Realtor & MANmon for the reply.
The thing that surprised me is that PUSD is assigned to Stonebridge even though it is in Scripps Ranch.
- Is it because the current SD Unified schools in that area are overcrowded ?
- Or is it the result of the builders/developers "lobbying efforts" ?
- I understand that any neighborhood's school can change. But, in this case, it seems very likely ? Am I wrong ?
I think Scripps Ranch HS is packed. Also Poway HS is much closer to Stonebridge then Scripps HS. As I said I believe another high school is being built but it is at the far west end. Also I "heard" that there are going to allow students from Mira Mesa to go there as well. This is unreliable at best, not checked out with the SDUSD or anything like that.
Again don't know why Stonebridge kids go to Poway but it makes alot of sense.
A while back, I was looking at some places in Sabre Springs. They weren't in the PUSD in terms of district maps. However, I was told that part of the HOA fees were going towards the PUSD in exchange for allowing residents of the community to go to the schools.
I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a similar deal for the Stonebridge communities.
I believe Sabre Springs residents attend Mt Carmel HS for instance (and other PUSD lower level schools).
At one time when looking in Penasquitos, I was mapping out which neighborhoods attended which high schools. Making out the divide between Mt. Carmel and Westview was a royal pain.
Cardiff you are right. I have clients who purchased in Sabre Springs and the kids go to Mt Carmel...

We just drove out there today and I can't believe people are actually buying those up! $1.1 Million for 3700 sqft. That's insane! We did note a few For Sale signs up already. I can't believe someone would blow a million dollars on a house that size...actually, I can't believe someone would spend a million dollars on a house to begin with.
robyns_song I hear ya. I cannot believe the activity there as well. It is a nice place but not my taste for that much dinero. There are already Stonebridge listings on the MLS that are actively for sale for LESS then the 2005 sales price from the builder.

The builders in Stonebridge has lowered prices by 10%. This is part of the reason the homes there are selling.
Stonebridge has seen a lot of foreclosures within the last few months and the prices are coming down fast.... Anybody in this forum who has been interested in buying a foreclosed home?
Not with the high Mello-Roos in that area...houses are nice, taxes are not.
Is there a lot of jet noise. I rent in Carmel Valley south of 56. The noise can be very annoying, especially in poor-quality built homes.
I agree, I'm just surprised how somebody is willing to spend over $1 million to buy a home in the middle of nowhere and pay an additional $6,000+ in Mello Roos for no infrastructure except access roads and some hiking paths.
