What is killing the pirates? Is this karma?
"Somali pirates who have taken over a Iranian merchant ship laden with a mysterious cargo have suffered skin burns, lost hair and fallen gravely ill “within days” of boarding the MV Iran Deyanat. Reports are also stating that several have died."

"Andrew Mwangura, the director of the East African Seafarers’ Assistance Programme, when asked about the situaion reponded: 'We don’t know exactly how many, but the information that I am getting is that some of them had died. There is something very wrong about that ship.'"

"The vessel’s declared cargo consists of “minerals” and “industrial products”. But officials involved in negotiations over the ship are convinced that it was sailing for Eritrea to deliver small arms and chemical weapons to Somalia’s Islamist rebels."

Yeah, sure, evil empire Iran is just sending their chemical weapons everywhere.

Try and get a clue.

President George Bush, and his nefarious cohorts, are in the business of advancing their financial and political interests, via SCAMMING the American public, primarily through manipulation of the media, and government control, and taking away our citizen rights.

“Scamming” is a confidence trick or confidence game (also known as a bunko, con, flim flam, gaffle, grift, scam, scheme, or swindle) is an attempt to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence in a web of lies.

The Gang of Cons (Bush and his Cohorts) are currently originating and building many new scams. One major SCAM the Bush administration is running is the push for ANOTHER WAR, this time with Iran.

The Gang of Cons sees MANY financial and political benefits in having a war with Iran.

1) Steal Iran’s oil, just like we stole Iraq’s oil. Bush’s oil buddies profit.
2) Jewish lobby tied into the Gang of Cons, also wants Iran destroyed
3) Another war is another distraction away from the fact that Bush is destroying America.
4) Halliburton (Cheney’s buddies), also known (courtesy Bob Dylan) as the “Masters of War” are worried military spending could suffer under Obama, unless ANOTHER NEW WAR is started.
5) Neo-cons believe you can force democracy upon Islamic nations.
6) Bush at his deepest hidden core is a military Christian Crusader, in the very spirit of the murderous Christian Crusades from 1095-1291. He won’t say it but he believes he’s empowered and blessed by God to free the world of, in Bush’s view, heathen Islamic devils.
7) Every economist knows that one way out of a depression is a GOOD WAR because it is an orgy of massive government spending in the military-industrial complex (that the next generation of Americans gets to pay for.)

I was always a Clemente fan.

Excellent. Thread HIJACK! You are wiser than I. I bow before you. Best approach for such a moronic thread as this is to HIJACK IT.

HIJACK to TOPIC: professional baseball players

You gotta love Clemente. Here's a guy who even dies in HONOR, lost in a plane crash where he was aboard making sure a plane flight of goods destined for earthquake survivors doesn't get diverted by corrupt officials.

WHO is your favorite baseball player?
(Let's make this thread HIJACK stick. Please do argue in the thread about who was/is best baseball player.)

Sweet-Swingin' Billy Williams.

There's something about your favorite player from when you were 8,10,12 years old that can never be replaced.

Brooks Robinson and I didnt even live in Baltimore. I discovered baseball in the early 70's when the Orioles we tops and I was about 8 years old.

Thanks for the props stkstrdr

Totally agree zk, it's the ones you watched as kid that are the most special.

Mine was Steve Carlton, lefty pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies in the 70's and early 80's. No world series will ever be able to top the 1980 series for me. Shame how Carlton went out though, but I will always remember his glory days.

Awesome threadjack.

zk: Right you are. I "discovered" baseball through Little League at the ripe old age of 7 (it was 1972) and my all time fave is "Hammerin' Hank" Aaron.

I batted clean up for every team I played on from Little League through high school, so I loved the sluggers. Couldn't field worth a s**t, which is why I played outfield my whole "career", but I could knock the snot out of the ball.

Barry Bonds doesn't deserve to carry Aaron's jockstrap, let alone hold his record. And, yeah, I'm a Giants fan, believe it or not.

Barry Bonds, despite the asterisk.
Better performance through chemistry.

New thought on moral hazard and the "personal bailout"....
While credit cards are stil rather easy to get, why not go get about 20 new ones and then take out the cash option for about $15K per card? That should put about $300K in your pocket, then go out to Temecula and pick-up a casa on the golf course for cash. After it closes, file BK with the cc's.
Done! Then spend the next year two years cleaning up your credit.

getting a loan in the future will be really hard anyway. This way your house is paid free and clear.

Navydoc,
I was 4 rows behind home plate sitting in front of Walter Alston when the Phils beat the Dodgers. My best friend and I were the 1st 2 fans on the field hugging Al Holland when they clinched the penant. That one will always be special to me too. It was my Sr year in HS.
